knowledge as the basis of organized society
Dear Willy,
future post, thank you for your love and your Christmas wishes. Unfortunately I have not done it before Christmas, to answer you. But at least I'm tuned in time to wish you and your family to a successful and healthy new year 2011.
It seems that our future post occurs after the first year in a new section, one of them this year. I used the leisure of the Christmas time to read our exchanges once more critical and am in the process come to the realization that we are in 2010 is widespread agreement on the basis of a sustainable, self-organizing society down. Very briefly I would therefore like to summarize the most important cornerstones of such a company:
• The alignment of business and production at the natural income: The incident solar energy and through this kept going natural cycles of matter and energy flows provide the solid framework of the economic activities of society and human production of goods and provision of services dar. From this point follows that a future social system on a fairer distribution of this natural income (and fair access to non-renewable resources as a means to use that income based) must. Must also be based on a future monetary system natural income and are bound by it. We come from the erstwhile feudal gold standard on the standard of unbridled unbridled idiots growing speculative capital to sustainable solar standard. How can look carefully, this is one of many discussion points that we preserved to us, to enable us in the coming years will not be bored!
• The organization of society in functional, space-based and non-hierarchical regional units: the orientation of the economy on natural income adequate political structure makes it necessary. The Leitkapital sustainable Society is the area and its natural features (of soil fertility through to the biological diversity), there will only be used on land, the income of natural sunlight can. The management of this capital, but also that life-sustaining natural processes, such as the hydrological cycle is therefore bound to functional spatial units, which are therefore the key units of political action. Similarly, (with all possible individual mobility), social and cultural basic operations such as housing, basic services but also the physical bound many educational and cultural activities in space. We are therefore of the feudal lords of the madness of ethnic nation-states to natural and socio-political functional units, which is proving itself quite spatially overlap. That is not necessarily a plea for chauvinist small principalities. The European Union can be such a functional unit. What is important is that these units regulate its function (and not all functions within their territory) and join with other regional entities in an equal political discussion of crosscutting issues. There is therefore no "hegemony of the larger" but functional (and slim) administrations that make in the future form of discourse. Again have we are making a very interesting starting point for future discussions in our future post that will brighten the interaction of these units on.
• Democratic decision-making mechanisms based on the basis of active participation and maximize confidence: Such functional units can not be guided by traditional representative (party) democracies. Rather, make those actors who are directly affected by these functions (and influence these functions directly) in open and transparent decision-making processes in the future. In such decision processes, the right of co-decision by active participation in the decision process is acquired, the Legitimacy of the decisions we must work through trust in the stakeholders and by the compliance with general rules (a "European Constitution"? Europe as "functional regional unit of the rule of law "???). Here, too, opens itself to us, of course, a particularly wide field of discussion in the coming months and years, which I am particularly pleased me already!
• The financing of social activities through a "natural income tax and the introduction of a basic income as a human right: the Logic of taking the natural income is derived the tax base of a future self-organizing society: the basic resource land and non-renewable raw materials. In principle, a tax system so help to promote the efficient use of the limiting resource of social development. This is our common view land as a main transformer of the natural income in socially useful services. Therefore it is logical to assume that resource as the basis of the tax system. Additionally you must also not claim the acquisition of renewable resources as efficient as possible and "bought" future generations will be a corresponding control. The exact design of a fair Tax system is, of course, we also continue to employ in the future post, as well as the management of these resources and the exchange between the various functional political units. You've got here already made a very interesting proposal, namely that here control flow of the set on his head ": the smallest units to manage the natural income raise a tax and add a share to the other units (including the" higher ") from.
from this tax base is logically stressed the need for a basic security for all. If the income taken as the natural base, so of course everyone has a "natural" Right to his share in it. The natural income "belongs" to no one, it's a godsend, as well as life and personal liberty. Thus, it is clear that those who "have" is currently the capital to exploit the natural income (and not "owned" have!) The actual owner (= the human society as a whole) to replace the use of capital. This part of the property tax must therefore flow back to all citizens in the form of a basic insurance. We have already discussed that this is not only a logical consequence of taking the natural income, but also a prerequisite that we can stray from the cancerous growth of the current economic madness. Again, there are of course wide field of discussion that we have for the future post available.
This brief summary of the discussion of 2010 should help us to enter into a detailed discussion of individual fields in the next year. I leave you this time the service, which field you the most burning heart.
For now I just want to have a "cross-cutting" (actually I hate that word), namely, education for self-organizing society. This topic is important for several reasons. On the one hand, of course, education the basis of all social development (even if our politicians do not always see the above). On the other hand, formation and organization of knowledge is already inextricably linked with another self-organizing phenomenon, the Internet connected. I think that we really can learn a lot about social self-organization, if we look at the organization, decision-making, but also the economy of the Internet closer look. I believe further that the Internet will exert a very important function in the formation and "holding" a self-organizing sustainable society. I would like to forward in a later post, when it comes to political Organization of society is, to pick up again. But
to education, which I of course as a high school teacher is very important. But please expect no general solution for the PISA weakness of Austria or the uni-misery in our countries. I will also respond not to the off-training for certain professions, have not because I just do not know what the jobs of the future. Rather, I want to draw some basic lines of which we may build a higher education debate, if you the same at heart like me.
First of all I want to present what I feel: For me, education is the acquisition and maintenance of those skills, which make it possible for people to participate in the social self-organization.
A self-organizing society is also an ever-changing society that also changed their participation conditions. This education is a permanent, continuous process of social process. Here we are in an interesting circular definition: Education is not only a process that empowered to participate in the social self-organization, but because education is itself a part of this self-organization, a process that also to participate in self-earthquakes. We need "education for education"! Basically, I think
that we have four different but are essential elements in any education. On the one hand, it's about culture techniques, so the skills necessary to participate in the educational process itself. Read and write (in their native language, but also the language of the living environment) are expected and the conventional culture techniques, which now by the use of the Internet and other electronic information technologies (mobile phone, etc.) are supplemented. Old-fashioned as I am, I believe that we "learn" these techniques can, and that this should take place as early as possible. Our primary schools should, therefore these culture techniques and are exempt from all other cinnabar. If the children of ten years reading and also can write and master the basic arithmetic operations, but also mobile phone and internet at least have made friends that would be great!
A second element analysis techniques are for me, so the placement of structures of thought of grouping the processes in reality. This is not about "knowledge" but concepts such as balance sheets (to do well in the economy, as well as in science), statistical basis but also essential basic concepts of social, economic and political processes. The utmost importance is the concept of language, since education should teach about how you can acquire the language. Mental structures are certainly a good field of lifelong learning, But I would put just in the time between ten and fifteen years a center of gravity is here with a lot of practical exercises are used as switching principle.
A third element is classified knowledge. This is about concepts of evaluation, systematization. This begins with a philosophical education (including logic), goes on ethical education to evaluation of information, social transparency and trust. This too is a life-long job, but especially at the age of fifteen years upward important.
A fourth, time-continuous element is the challenge of creativity and responsibility. This element should of "cradle to grave" be a key element of education, this being set up not only in artistic and cultural fields. It's also about socially and economically to be creative and people to toughen them.
for today I will leave it in the description of these basic elements and hope for a "good sized" ball from you, so that we can deepen this important discussion on.
Dear Willy, again a healthy and prosperous New Year to you and your family
Your Michael
